Satan is Gaslighting (Gen 3:1)

Updated: Feb 14, 2022

Do you ever see something happening in the world and then realize, "Oh my gosh, God warned us about that?"

Lately I've noticed a spirit of "questioning" rising up and attacking any effort to obey God.

The goal of this "questioning" seems to be to convince us to support the culture of the new world order. We are to accept the premise that things which go against God's Word are really not that wrong but just normal and even right. Isaiah 5:20

The psychological term for this form of manipulation is called "gaslighting."

Gaslighting is "when the bully makes the target question their judgments and reality."

The bully then tells the target what the "true" reality is that the target is supposed to believe and accept.

It occurred to me, this is exactly what Satan did when he tempted Eve in the garden. "Satan said to the woman, 'Did God really say ...'" Genesis 3:1

It's also how Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness in Matthew 4. He came to Jesus questioning "if you are the Son of God, ..." in an attempt to get Jesus to doubt and disobey God the Father.

We are seeing this same spirit at work in this world today! Any attempt to stand for or follow God is being met with this "questioning," not seeking to understand but seeking to cast doubt in God's Word and the reality before us.

Dear Lord, Please give us eyes to see the deception the spirit of the Antichrist is casting upon us.

Let us put on your full armor so that we can stand firm against Satan's schemes.

Let us realize our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

So then Lord, let us pray for anyone Satan is using to distract us from obeying the truth of Your Word.

Let us stand firm with the belt of your truth buckled around our waist, with the breastplate of righteousness, and with your gospel of salvation.

Let us firmly hold the shield of faith, with which we can extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Let us equip ourselves with the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, that is the Word of God.
