Lord, Thank you For .. (Psalm 48:1)

Updated: Feb 17, 2022

How often when we pray does our prayer start with or include “Lord, thank you for ..?” Could it be more often than not, our prayer just consists of supplication?

Lord, please heal ..

Lord, please help ..

Lord, please prevent ..

Lord, please protect ..

Thankfully God wants us to come to Him with all things:

Philippians 4:6 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication WITH THANKSGIVING let your requests be made known to God."

But do we forget the thanksgiving part?

Do we remember to start our prayer and our day with “Lord, thank you for .. ?”

If we do start our day and continue our day with “Lord, thank you for ..” how would that change our attitude, mindset, and focus throughout each day?

This morning in my daily reading, Psalm 48:1 stopped me..

Psalm 48:1How great is the Lord, how deserving of praise

The creator God of the universe wants me to seek Him and tell Him everything that’s on my heart. But He also wants me to praise and thank Him for that opportunity.

Dear Lord, thank you for this day. Thank you for the opportunity to serve You and come before you with all things. Lord, thank you for reminding me that when I start my day with thanksgiving and praise for You, You fill me with your Spirit, with the strength to handle whatever comes and with the joy to see You working both in the sunshine and in the rain. Lord, even in the storms, I will trust You and find reason to give you praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
