He is Coming (Revelation 1)

At this point you may be thinking, "You're still in Revelation 1?" Yes I am for two reasons. First, most people don't read and study this book. Second, there is so much important information we need to understand in it that is still to come, such as this verse..

Revelation 1:7 BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.

When you mention Revelation, most peoples' knee jerk reaction is, "There's a lot of symbolism in Revelation."

In all fairness, that is absolutely true. But the fact that Jesus is going to come back to this earth after the 7-year Tribulation is not at all symbolic.

Revelation 1:7 tells us when Jesus returns to this earth every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him.

In the Word for Word translation of this verse, "BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS," is in ALL CAPS indicating it is an Old Testament reference:

Daniel 7:13 I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming..

Zechariah 12:10 I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will week bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.

Note that both Daniel and Zechariah are Old Testament books written way before Jesus' took on human flesh through the virgin birth.

But even in addition to Revelation and the Old Testament writings, Jesus Himself said He would come back with this same language:

Matthew 24:29-30 But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.

The greatest miracle that has ever occurred is that God stepped off of His throne in heaven, took on human flesh through the virgin birth, so that humanity, created in His image, could finally understand His great love for us.

The second greatest miracle that is yet to occur is that Jesus will return with His followers and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him.

Really, the only question we should ask is will you be watching Jesus return or returning with Him?

Dear Lord, Thank you that as I see the stage being set for the end of the church age and the beginning of the 7-year Tribulation, I can rest assured that I will not only be with You in heaven during the time of the 7-year Tribulation but also returning with You at the end of the Tribulation. Lord, I pray for those who don't have that assurance to repent of their sins and trust in You as the Lord of their lives today, while there is still time so that they can look forward to returning with You. Thank you Lord for loving us so much that You never stop knocking on the door of our hearts, giving us chance after chance to repent and turn to You. In Jesus' name, amen.
