Hated Because of My Name

In Prophecy News:

Anti-Christian Hate Crime Up 70%

The Vienna-based Observatory on Intolerance against Christians (OIDAC) in Europe revealed that hate crimes targeting Christians rose by 70 percent between 2019 and 2020. The OIDAC report indicates the two chief catalysts behind these hate crimes are "secular intolerance" and "Islamic oppression."

Accompanying these hate crimes are progressive restrictions on fundamental rights, such as freedom of expression, religion, conscience, contracts, and parental rights.

The report, a result of two years of research, says much of the hostility toward Christianity stems from "a strong and sometimes even extreme opposition to Christian morals derived from core beliefs."

This is exactly what we see happening in Finland where a Lutheran pastor along with a Finnish member of Parliament are being tried for "hate speech." What exactly is their crime? They published a booklet explaining basic Christian theology about sex and marriage according to the Bible.

There's really no question that these same catalysts are building steam within our own nation as well. In fact, I would expect to soon see these same spikes in Christian hate crimes within the U.S.

In Matthew 24:9-14 Jesus warned his disciples what the Jews would experience during the first half of the Tribulation. But could it be we are seeing the birth pangs of those warnings in our world today against Christians too?

Matthew 24:9 "you will be hated by all nations because of My name." [12] "Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold."

We are certainly now seeing Christians being hated and lawlessness increasing in our own nation.

But the silver lining in all of this is that Jesus said these were the "signs of His coming and the end of the age." That's something to get excited about!! That's why five times in Matthew 24-25 Jesus told His followers to be on the alert and live ready.

So what about you? Are you examining current events through the lens of Bible prophecy so that you can be on the alert, live ready, and protect yourselves from deception as we await our blessed hope, the appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ? (Titus 2:13)
