God's Image Bearer (Gen 1:26)

Updated: Feb 14, 2022

We are all defined by our identity. When my kids were in school if you asked them a question about their identity, they would say, "I'm a swimmer."

But the question we need to ask is, "How does God define us?"

Genesis 1:26 says "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness."

In the very first book of the Bible and in the very first chapter, God gives us our identity, in Him. Notice this is the first time in the Bible we see God describe Himself as the Trinity, "Us" and "Our."

Our identity is that we are created in the image of God to be God's image bearer. So if my purpose in this life is to bear God's image to those around me, I need to make sure my actions and my words reflect Jesus.

Dear Lord, Please fill me with your Spirit and let the eyes of my heart stay focused on You so that I reflect You this day and every day to those around me.
