Gathering before the Lord (Exo 40)

Updated: Dec 31, 2022

Do you think the Glory of the Lord is still in our "tabernacles" today or could it be that He has departed and we haven't notice?

In Exodus 40:34 the tabernacle was completed and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

But later when Israel turned away from God, His glory and His presence departed. Their hearts were no longer dedicated to living in obedience to Him.

Today we have churches all over our land which have been dedicated to Jesus and built to worship Him. Jesus said in Matthew 18:20, where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in their midst.

But are we gathering to worship Jesus, dedicating ourselves to living in obedience to Him? Is the glory of the Lord still in our tabernacles or has He departed and would we notice if He did?

Dear Lord, There have been so many times in my life when I have departed the tabernacle. I no longer saw it as a priority to gather and worship You. I said I could just worship You on my own. But I didn’t. I didn’t pray, I didn’t worship and I didn’t open my Bible. I just fell away.

When college became too hard, I told myself I didn’t have time for church and my heart turned away from You. When we moved to Texas, we didn’t try to find a church and our hearts turned away from You. When we moved back from Texas we didn’t try to find a church. And now even in Omaha with the threat of C0vid it is tempting to not gather before You with our church family.

Lord, I know when we don’t gather at the tabernacle before You, my heart turns away from You and I am no longer focused on living in obedience to You.

Lord, we need you like never before. Please keep our family, our church family, and the churches across this land gathering before You in worship and obedience to You. Lord, please don’t let Satan win. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
