Friends with Jesus (Exo 33)

Updated: Feb 14, 2022

If Jesus was walking on this earth today, do you ever wonder what He would say to you? For example, would Jesus consider us his friend?

In Exodus 33:9,11 we are told that when Moses entered the tabernacle, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tabernacle and the Lord talked with Moses as a man speaks to his friend.

My first thought was, wow, imagine hearing from God like that every day!

But my second thought was I do hear from God every day through his Holy Spirit and through his Word as I bow before Him.

Jesus said in John 15:15 that He does not call his disciples, slaves or servants but friends, because a slave does not know what his master is doing but all things He heard from the Father, He makes known to us.

Like God spoke to Moses through the cloud, Jesus speaks to us through his Holy Spirit and through his Word, the Bible.

Jesus wants a relationship with us like God had with Moses. He invites us to meet with Him at the door of the tabernacle. But He leaves it up to us to choose whether we will accept his invitation to be called his friend.

Dear Lord, Thank you for inviting me to come stand at the door of the tabernacle with You. Lord, let me remember every time I open your Word and bow before You in prayer, You are standing before me, inviting me to be in your presence. Let me never take that for granted. Let me always put time with You first each day. Lord, how can I serve You today?
