"Forget the Lord" (Deuteronomy 8)

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to commit to God and then just as easily forget about Him?

Yet God didn’t forget about me when He stepped down off the throne, took on human flesh, and then submitted Himself to insults, torture, and the pain of the cross in my place.

So why is it I can know this and yet so easily forget about the Lord throughout the day?

I can commit to living my life for Him and yet confidently step forward in what I do and what I say without first stopping and praying, “Lord, not my will, but Your will be done. Is this going to glorify You, today?”

And sadly in some cases, even when I know what I am about to do or say is not going to glorify the Lord, I selfishly do or say it anyway!

Deuteronomy 8:11 Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments and His ordinances and His statutes

Dear Lord, Please help me keep the eyes of my heart focused on You with all that I say, all that I do, and everywhere I go, each day.

"Forget the Lord" is very easy to do when you are busy. Very important to keep this in mind at all times.

I agree. So easy to get distracted and take our eyes off of Jesus. If I am not in my Bible every day, I quickly get distracted.
