Even Moses had doubts (Exo 3)

Updated: Feb 14, 2022

Have you ever noticed when we look at the great patriarchs of the Bible, we picture these superhuman pillars of faith? But in reality, they are just ordinary people with the same inabilities and insecurities we have.

In Exodus 3:10-11, God calls Moses to go to Pharaoh and lead Israel out of Egypt, back to the Promised Land. But Moses basically says, "Who me? Couldn't be."

I would guess, like Moses, most of us look in the mirror and see someone lacking the ability to do what God is calling us to do.

But when we trust Him and say "yes, Lord," He molds us and shapes us to accomplish His purpose in spite of our natural inabilities and insecurities.

Dear Lord, Please help me remember that in spite of all of my imperfections that disqualify me by the world's standards, your standards are different. You choose to use the lowly, the unqualified, the insignificant. You choose to use the willing but broken lumps of clay because then it is clear that whatever is accomplished is You, not the broken clay. All I need to do is be willing to respond "Yes Lord," rather than "Who me? Couldn't be." So Lord today, and every day, help me keep saying, "yes," and willingly take the next step You call me to take to follow You.
