Do Not Be Afraid (Deut. 31)

How are we supposed to NOT be afraid and discouraged when the headlines day after day say:

  • Russia ~ Ukraine

  • China ~ Taiwan

  • Iran ~ Israel

  • North Korea

  • Gas Prices

  • Food shortages

  • Pandemics

  • Mandates

  • Weather Disturbances

  • Lawlessness

  • Job Uncertainty

  • Loss of Loved Ones

Yet God says in spite of all of this, “do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

How? How are we supposed to see all of this day after day and not be discouraged and afraid?

By clinging to the hem of Jesus' garment and keeping the eyes of our heart on the cross.

Nothing that’s going on today is catching Him by surprise.

Nothing that’s going on today is bigger than God.

Nothing that is going on today will disturb His plan for our lives, for all eternity.

In fact, He promises to not only walk with us through everything that is going on but to walk before us, leading the way.

Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

So when we hold on to the hem of His garment and keep the eyes of our heart focused on the cross, He will shield us through whatever is to come our way.

We just need to stay focused on Jesus, each and every day.

Who is close to you and far from God who needs to hear Jesus' gospel message of love and salvation so that they too don’t have to be discouraged or afraid today?
