D.R.I.G.E. (Psalm 36)

Updated: Feb 17, 2022

Probably unlike many of you, I didn’t grow up in a Christian home. I was always taught to do the right thing. But often that was “the right thing” in man’s eyes, not in God’s eyes.

But even after becoming a follower of Jesus, if I am being completely honest, I’ve still found it hard to do the right thing in God’s eyes especially when someone is being ugly to me or to someone I love. Somehow in those times, it seems easier to justify the wrong than to do what I know is right in God’s eyes.

That means in those times, even though I claim to be a follower of Jesus, I’m allowing myself to be enticed by the sin whispering deep within my heart rather than guided by the Holy Spirit offering me direction to do what I know is right in God’s eyes.

Just as the psalmist said:

Psalm 36:1, “Sin whispers to the wicked, deep within their hearts. They have no fear of God at all.”

That means if I truly love the Lord my God, my responses and my reactions need to please God and bring Him glory.

I need to Do. Right. In. God's. Eyes. (D. R. I. G. E.)

Dear Lord, Please strengthen me daily to die to self and live for You. Please give me the strength to focus the eyes of my heart on You and to do what is right in Your eyes, rather than insisting on doing what is right in mine.
