Live for Christ's Glory (1 Corinthians 10)

As a follower of Jesus Christ, how often do you start out dedicating your day to Christ? How often do you start out saying, "Lord, whatever I do today, let me do it all for your glory?" If you did start your day like that, would it make a difference?

What if we prayed before we left our home, before we had a conversation, or even a greeting to anyone else, "Lord, whatever I do today, let it all be for your glory?"

Would you live differently if you committed the day to Christ?

Would you treat people with more kindness, more love, on those days?

Would you remember to live for Jesus instead of for yourself?

Would you have an easier time with the people at work that rub you the wrong way, who you really can't stand to see and want to avoid at all cost? If you're living your day to bring Jesus glory, how would your interactions with those people be different?

Personally, for me, this changes everything. The days that I don't commit to living for God's glory, living to make Jesus known, those are the days that I am just living for myself and doing what I think is right in my own eyes. Those are the days that I am living out my agenda rather than Christ's.

What if we all memorized this verse and prayed it every morning, committing to it:

1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Would it change how you live out your day?

There's really only one way to find out, isn't there?

Dear Lord, Thank you for the reminder of this verse that I think was the first youth group lesson I ever taught in 1996 and one of the first verses I taught my children. Lord, thank you for putting it on my heart again so that I can live it out for You today, tomorrow, and each day yet to come. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
